About Me
Hey — I’m Mark Register.
Founder of Mark Time - Philadelphia native - Watch guy. Probably too into it.
I spent the first part of my career helping early-stage startups build brands by making content that was useful, entertaining, and didn’t insult people’s intelligence. Eventually, I decided to try it on myself.
Mark Time started with restoring broken watches from the 1920s–1950s — bringing neglected things back to life and learning why they were built the way they were. When it came time to take the next step, I made a deliberate decision not to go to watchmaking school, buy a garage full of tools, or George-Daniels my way into oblivion.
Instead, I focused on the fun part:
Designing watches that are thoughtful, well-made, and surprisingly good for the price — while building something that stays enjoyable to run and gives me an excuse to talk to people in the watch community.
This brand exists because I like watches.
It continues because I like the people who like watches.
My Goals
- Be an active community member
Making watches is mostly an excuse to meet interesting people and learn from them. -
Iterate
Ask for feedback. Improve the watches. Repeat. -
Have fun
Stop when it’s not. Come back when it is. -
Maximize total customer joy
TOTAL JOY = ( Joy / Cost ) × Duration.
No hype. No mythology.
Just well-considered watches, made by someone who cares, for people who do too.
FAQ
Q: Can I return the watch?
Yes. You have 7 days after delivery to decide if it’s for you.
Try it on. Live with it. If it’s not right, email info@marktimewatches.com and we’ll initiate a return.
Full details are in the refund policy. We kept it readable.
Q: Does the watch have a warranty?
Every Mark Time watch includes a 2-year warranty.
It covers manufacturing defects. It does not cover normal wear, accidents, or life happening.
The warranty card and support page outline the specifics. We try not to hide the fine print in smaller fine print.
Q: Do you offer repairs or servicing?
Yes.
We can assist with servicing, movement regulation, and strap replacements.
Email us and we’ll walk you through the process.
Watches are meant to last. Maintenance is part of the deal.
Q: How do I care for a bronze case?
Bronze develops patina over time. That’s the point.
Oxidation will gradually darken and deepen the tone, making each case slightly different. Many owners prefer it that way.
If you’d like to restore the original finish, a gentle cleaning with baking soda and lemon juice will reduce patina. But we generally recommend letting it age. It earns it.
Q: What is CuSn8 Bronze?
CuSn8 is a copper alloy containing 8% tin.
It has a warmer, rose-gold tone compared to the more yellow appearance of traditional bronze alloys. It also develops a richer, more nuanced patina over time.
It changes. Slowly. That’s part of the appeal.
Q: Can I track my order once it ships?
Yes.
Once your order ships, you’ll receive tracking information so you can monitor its progress to your door.
Watching a watch arrive is part of the ritual.
Q: Do you have a physical store or showroom?
I operate primarily online.
I occasionally attend watch fairs and host pop-ups. Subscribe to the newsletter or follow along on social for updates.
If you’re in the Philadelphia area, email me. I’m happy to meet up and let you try one on in person. It’s more fun that way.
Q: How do I contact customer support?
Email info@marktimewatches.com.
I aim to respond within 24–48 hours. Usually sooner.
Q: What is your design inspiration?
Form follows function.
Clean lines. High legibility. Intentional restraint.
Influences include German Bauhaus principles and British Brutalism — clarity, proportion, and removing what doesn’t need to be there.
I could add more. I don’t.
Q: What are the German references, like “German Love”?
My wife is German. Bauhaus design heavily influences the brand. And our manufacturing partners are TÜV Rheinland certified, working with major German luxury brands.
So yes — there’s some German DNA in here. Intentionally.
Q: Why are there cities engraved on the caseback?
They’re places that shaped my life.
Philadelphia. Los Angeles. Mainz. Washington, D.C. London. Xenia. Austin. San Antonio. Kittredge. Tallahassee.
Watches Mark Time. Cities mark chapters in my life.
Q: What other watch brands do you like?
A lot of people. But don’t tell them.
I pay attention to UniDesign for case shape discipline.
E. Stohlman for blending old-time watch design with modern color and restraint.
Tsao Baltimore for raising the bar on city-centric watches.
Richard Harvey for precision and mastery in AutoCAD-driven dimensional design.
I admire Lesablier for their adventure dial paired unapologetically with a white strap.
Haim for thoughtful use of Grade 2 titanium on the Legacy Automatic coin bezel.
Zenea for playful experimentation with limited-edition bezels.
Virage for committing to a red-and-black palette without flinching.
Dufrane for the Austin City Limits dial.
Geo Islandtime for material playfulness that doesn’t take itself too seriously.
And Heinrich for somehow out-Germany’ing me.
